CAYUGA WALKING LOOP

2 KM-20 MINUTES START:

Grand Vista Trail (East Trailhead) - 55 Munsee Street N

This 2 km route offers a birds eye view of the Grand River as you walk across the Old Cayuga Railroad Bridge. Be sure to have your camera ready as you will be parking right next to the historical Cayuga Courthouse built in 1851. This loop is pedestrian and bike friendly with some on-road walking and/or biking.

  1. Begin this walking adventure at Cayuga’s Grand Vista Trail (East Trailhead) located at 55 Munsee Street North where you can park your car.. When you pull into the parking lot beside the Cayuga Courthouse, you will see the trail kiosk to your right (North).  

  2. As you walk along enjoying the scenery, you will come to the Old Cayuga Railroad Bridge which offers incredible views of the Grand River. There are benches where you can sit, take in the view, and snap a few photos – don’t forget to tag us @Grand_Trails so we can share your adventure!

     

  3. As you continue on, you will meet the Grand Vista West Trailhead and will turn left (East) to follow a rural farm road, King George Street, then make a right (South) onto Maple Road which will lead you to the Cayuga Bridge that you will cross back into town.

  4. Once you reach the stoplights, you will see the Haldimand County Library and Heritage Centre across the street which offers a rich and diverse array of exhibits, special events, and programming for all ages with a focus on the history of the Indigenous Peoples that originally settled on this land. 

  5. When you’re ready for a snack, head North onto Cayuga Street North where you will find various options to indulge in such as coffee, lunch, or home-made baked goods. The Carolinian Café and Cravings by Brittany are a couple of local favourites!

  6. Continue along Cayuga Street North and you will come across Cayuga Village Green which is a charming park where you can take a break, put your feet up, and enjoy your treat from the local shops.

     

  7. From here, you will continue along Cayuga Street North and turn right (East) onto Mohawk Street West then turn left (North) onto Munsee Street North which will bring you back to where you started at the Grand Vista Trail East Trailhead.
