Cayuga Walking Loop

2 km — 20 MINUTES

START: Grand Vista Trail (East Trailhead) - 55 Munsee Street N

This 2 km route offers a birds eye view of the Grand River as you walk across the Old Cayuga Railroad Bridge. Be sure to have your camera ready as you will be parking right next to the historical Cayuga Courthouse built in 1851. This loop is pedestrian and bike friendly with some on-road walking and/or biking.

Park your car at the parking lot beside the Cayuga Courthouse. Cayuga’s Grand Vista Trail (East Trailhead) (1) is just north of the courthouse.

Walk down the trail and turn L at the bottom of the hill and walk towards the Old Cayuga Railroad Bridge (2) which offers incredible views of the Grand River. There are benches where you can sit, take in the view, and snap a few photos – don’t forget to tag us @Grand_Trails so we can share your adventure!

As you continue on, you will meet the Grand Vista West Trailhead and will turn left (East) to follow a rural farm road to King George Street. Walk along King St St and turn R onto Maple Road which will lead you to Talbot Rd. Turn L onto Talbot Rd. Take care as you walk along the side of this busy road until you get to the sidewalk on the Cayuga Bridge (3). Enjoy the view as you cross back into the centre of Cayuga.

Once you reach the stoplights at Cayuga St, you will see the Cayuga Library and Heritage Centre (4) on the other side of Cayuga St. The heritage centre hosts special exhibits and events, with a focus on the history of the Indigenous Peoples that originally settled on this land.

When you’re ready for a snack, head North onto Cayuga Street North where you will find various options to indulge in such as coffee, lunch, or home-made baked goods. Try Cravings by Brittany for unique baked treats.

Continue along Cayuga Street North and you will come across Cayuga Village Green which is a charming park where you can take a break, put your feet up, and enjoy your treat from the local shops.

From here, you will continue along Cayuga Street North and turn R onto Mohawk Street West then turn L onto Munsee Street North which will bring you back to where you started at the Cayuga Courthouse.
