Paddle Belwood Lake

Belwood Lake was formed by the Shand Dam, which was the first dual purpose Canadian dam built to control flooding in spring and to allow for flow control in the summer. The lake is open to paddlers and for motorsports such as water skiing. Belwood Lake may be entered at the boat launch in the Village of Belwood or at the boat launch in Belwood Lake Conservation Area. Make sure to stay well clear of the Shand Dam. Click here for more information about Belwood Lake Conservation Area.

The village of Belwood is at the north end of Belwood Lake. There is an access point for paddlers. Before you head out on the water, stop at the Belwood Country Market, for snacks, sandwiches and unique butter tarts. Afterwards, head to Belwood Super Snax which is an old fashioned diner near the boat dock.

For great organic produce, visit the farm store at Salad Days Farm, just outside of Belwood (open Thursday to Saturday in the summer).
